How it works

Volume = length × width × depth, converted to cubic yards (÷ 27). Gravel is sold by weight, so we multiply by 1.4 — the typical tons per cubic yard for crushed stone — then multiply by your price per ton for a cost estimate.

Depth guide: 2″ decorative · 3–4″ walkways · 4–6″ driveways · 6–8″ heavy vehicles.

How many tons of gravel do I need?

Find cubic yards (length × width × depth ÷ 27), then multiply by ~1.4 tons per cubic yard.

How much does a ton of gravel cover?

About 100 ft² at 2″ deep, 70 ft² at 3″, or 50 ft² at 4″.

What depth do I need?

2″ decorative, 3–4″ walkways, 4–6″ driveways, 6–8″ heavy vehicles.
